Public Prosecutor
Through Official Notice No. 2463-2023 dated May 30, 2023, the Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office, Fifth Section for Economic Crimes, requested information from the Sixteenth Circuit Civil Court of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama regarding Juan Luis Bosch Gutierrez's compliance with a judicial order issued in a related civil proceeding. The communication forms part of the criminal investigation for alleged fraud against Lisa, S.A., filed under Case No. 202200053278.
The Prosecutor requested that court personnel be granted access to conduct an ocular inspection, coordinated for June 5, 2023, with two specific objectives. Bosch's appearance. To verify whether Bosch appeared before the court as ordered by Order No. 712 of April 11, 2023, issued within the Summary Accounting Proceeding brought by Lisa, S.A. (File No. 83573-21). That order corrected the original admission resolution and granted Bosch a ten-business-day period to appear and render accounts. Authenticated copies. To obtain authenticated copies of the complaint and the current procedural status of the accounting proceeding.
This notice continues the evidentiary steps the Prosecutor has pursued since the criminal complaint was admitted through Resolution No. 2186-22 on September 9, 2022. Prior measures include the order directing banks to disclose Bosch and Villamorey accounts and the December 2022 resolution ordering G&T Continental to produce financial records. By requesting the civil court to confirm whether Bosch complied with the order to render accounts, the Prosecutor seeks to establish whether his conduct in civil proceedings (failure to fulfill obligations as court-appointed depositary) is consistent with the pattern of financial concealment underlying the criminal fraud investigation.
