Damages Suits Against Lisa
13 lawsuitsThe 2012 suits in which companies of the Avícola Villalobos Group claimed damages from Lisa for the lawsuits and publicity behind its exclusion, and the embargoes over Lisa's shares and dividends that came with them.
Between February and April 2012, after voting to exclude Lisa, companies of the Avícola Villalobos Group sued it for damages, most under Article 228 of the Commercial Code, which makes an excluded shareholder liable for the acts behind its exclusion. They pleaded Lisa's lawsuits at home and abroad, a sworn statement they said Lisa had paid for, and a press campaign; the largest claim, Avícola Villalobos's, sought Q94.4 million for its legal costs since 1999. With the suits came embargoes over Lisa's shares, dividends and profits, several naming the companies' own managers as depositaries. Most of the suits have failed: as premature while the exclusions were under challenge, as time-barred, or, in the largest, because no damage was proven, which the Supreme Court made final in March 2026. Some embargoes have been ordered lifted; others remain in force, and no payment to Lisa has followed.
